1. Lindsey Butler (Virginia Tech)
Butler is the only woman in this field who has a chance of out-running Maloney and she may be the woman in this field who has the most momentum following her success at the ACC Indoor Championships.
2. Shafiqua Maloney (Arkansas)
Maloney showed us at the SEC Indoor Championships that she can win in a variety of ways, although her best bet is to simply attempt to out-run the field.
3. Allison Johnson (Penn State)
Johnson has been incredible this winter, showing off versatility, ongoing improvement and an ability to take down top names, although her inexperience is something that needs to be considered.
4. Katy-Ann McDonald (LSU)
McDonald is peaking this postseason just like she did last spring, but after seeing Shafiqua Maloney defeat her fairly comfortably at the SEC Indoor Championships, this LSU star will need to rethink her plan of attack heading into the national meet.
5. Sarah Hendrick (Kennesaw State)
Hendrick isn't perfect, but she consistently runs fast times, rarely has poor races and is highly experienced, making her the most realistic threat to the two overwhelming favorites in this field (Butler and Maloney).
6. Aurora Rynda (Michigan)
Rynda secured numerous wins leading up to this weekend, but she hasn't contested the open 800 meters in over a month, instead competing in relays or the 600 meters, forcing us to figure out how those performances will translate to the half-mile.
7. Imogen Barrett (Florida)
Barrett proved that she has enough fitness to be one of the better seeds in this field, but will her outstanding tactical knowledge in events like the mile or the 1500 meters translate to the 800 meters?
8. McKenna Keegan (Villanova)
Keegan was the definition of consistency this season and given her past national meet experience, it seems safe to say that she is probably the least likely to have a poor performance this weekend.
9. Gabija Galvydyte (Oklahoma State)
Galvydyte has been VERY consistent this year and has yet to have a poor race, although her lack of familiarity on the national stage may limit her postseason potential.
10. Victoria Tachinski (Penn State)
With the success of teammate Allison Johnson, middle distance veteran Victoria Tachinski has gone under the radar despite consistently finishing amongst the top women in most of her competitive races this winter.
11. Brooke Jaworski (Texas)
This Texas veteran has been slowly and steadily improving upon her personal best in the 800 meters this season, peaking at the perfect time to secure a BIG 12 title and a personal best in her latest effort.
12. Valery Tobias (Texas)
Tobias had a very strong start to her season, but her last few 800 meter races have left us wanting more, making her a bit of an enigma as we enter the national meet.
13. Isabella Giesing (UMass Lowell)
Giesing, who was a proven middle distance standout before this winter, secured her national qualifying mark at the last moment, leaving us to wonder if she'll be able to replicate that peak and that momentum at the national meet.
14. Kassidy Johnson (Kansas State)
Johnson couldn't crack 2:10 until the beginning of February, but then proceeded to go under that barrier five-straight times en route to a 2:04 personal best, leaving us at The Stride Report unsure which version of Johnson we will see at the national meet.
15. Claire Seymour (BYU)
Seymour hasn't exactly had the same spark this winter as she did last year, but the BYU ace has proven that she can deliver a top All-American finish even after a modest regular season.
16. Quinn Owen (Arkansas)
Owen has only raced once since her 2:04 effort back in January, giving us very little to go off of when trying to make All-American predictions.
Final Predictions:
Shafiqua Maloney (Arkansas)
Lindsey Butler (Virginia Tech)
Sarah Hendrick (Kennesaw State)
Aurora Rynda (Michigan)
Allison Johnson (Penn State)
Gabija Galvydyte (Oklahoma State)
McKenna Keegan (Villanova)
