BREAKING: Chris Solinsky to Leave Florida for Oregon as New Assistant Coach

The Stride Report has confirmed via multiple sources that Chris Solinsky, the current distance coach at the University of Florida, will become the next assistant distance coach for the Oregon Ducks.

Solinsky, a former American 10k record holder, will join the Eugene-based program which recently hired Nike Bowerman Track Club coach, Jerry Schumacher, as the Ducks' newest Director of Track & Field and Cross Country this past summer.

It should be noted that Solinsky formerly trained under Schumacher at Bowerman Track Club before retiring from a professional running career and pursuing coaching opportunities.

Shalane Flanagan, one of the greatest American distance runners ever who ran for Bowerman Track Club until recently retiring, also joined Oregon earlier this year to oversee the women's distance program.

It is unclear what specific role within the distance events that Chris Solinsky is expected to have with the Ducks.

Earlier today, an opening for Florida's distance coaching role became available on "The Market", the NCAA's job board website for open coaching positions.

It is not yet clear if any current Florida athletes, specifically distance running megastar Parker Valby, will be joining Solinsky either later this winter or in the summer. According to one source, Valby is not currently listed in the transfer portal (at the time of publication).
