Oregon's Mia Barnett, a three-time All-American in the DMR and a multi-time national meet qualifier, announced via Instagram on Tuesday that she has inked a professional contract with Nike.
Barnett began her collegiate career at University of Virginia before she transferred to UCLA for the spring and winter months of 2023. She then finished her career at University of Oregon. She joins Sydney Vaught (via Arkansas) as recent collegiate signees to join the Swoosh brand.
In her announcement, Barnett stated...
“A really big dream came true… now it’s time to make some more come true. Grateful to officially begin my professional career with Nike.”
The middle distance standout holds three All-American accolades over the DMR with three different teams.
Her first All-American accolade came from a 7th place finish at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Championships where she ran the 1200-meter leg for Virginia. Barnett’s second All-American honor was when she anchored UCLA’s DMR to a 4th place finish at the 2023 indoor national meet, her best result, placement-wise, at a national meet.
Her final All-American accolade was earned when she raced for the University of Oregon at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships en route to a 5th place finish. Barnett was also a member of Oregon’s indoor DMR collegiate record which ran 10:42.05 in the winter of 2025.

Barnett competed at a total of eight other national meets across all three seasons of competition with each of her three different teams.
Internationally, the now-former Duck represented Sweden over 1500 meters at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Japan. Prior to that, she earned a 3rd place finish at the 2025 Swedish Championships with a 4:05.39 (1500) PR. The Swedish representative finished in 6th place over 1500 meters at the 2025 U23 European Championships.
The newest Nike signee holds personal bests of 2:03 (800), 4:26 (mile) and 9:12 (3k).
