Yesterday, the Millrose Games unveiled the list of men who are currently entered to run in this year's 3000 meters race on Saturday, January 29th at the Armory Track & Field Center in New York.
Amongst the entries are current NCAA superstars Yared Nuguse (Notre Dame) and Wesley Kiptoo (Iowa State). The two collegiate standouts will face-off against recently turned professionals such as Cooper Teare, Cole Hocker, Luis Grijalva and Conner Mantz, as well as other recent collegiates such as Joe Klecker and Geordie Beamish.
Edward Cheserek, Eric Jenkins and Drew Hunter also headline the field.
According to one source who TSR spoke to prior to the announcement, the field is being setup "for a collegiate record attempt". The NCAA men's record for 3000 meters sits at 7:38.59 which Arkansas alum Alistair Craig ran back in 2004.
Nuguse holds a personal best 7:46 for 3000 meters while Kiptoo boasts a personal best of 7:48 for the distance. It should be noted that Kiptoo recently posted a time of 13:14 for 5000 meters at Boston University earlier this month.
