Earlier today, Colorado announced that Gabrielle Orie (formerly of Cornell) will be joining the Buffaloes as a graduate transfer starting next fall. She has eligibility remaining in all three seasons of competition, pending winter approval.
Orie has been a key name for the Cornell women over the past few seasons. The New York native owns personal bests of 4:29 (1500), 9:24 (3k), 16:20 (5k) and 10:13 (steeplechase). During the 2019 cross country season, Orie helped the Cornell women qualify for the NCAA XC Championships as a team. She would go on to finish 90th overall in Terre Haute.
Fast forward to the 2020 indoor track season and Orie secured three new personal bests. She ended her season by winning the Ivy League indoor 5k title and finishing 2nd in the Ivy League 3k.
Orie will join a Colorado team that brought in a few notable transfers this past offseason such as Micaela DeGenero and Abby Nichols. She will add championship experience and valuable depth to a program that lost a handful of accomplished veterans from last year.
