Earlier today, The Stride Report confirmed that Abby Nichols (formerly of Ohio State) will finish her eligibility as a graduate transfer with the Colorado Buffaloes. Nichols will have one season of cross country eligibility remaining as well as two seasons of outdoor track eligibility.
The former Ohio State runner was the top distance talent on her team over the last year. Nichols finished 5th at the BIG 10 Cross Country Championships last fall and went on to place 41st at the National Championships, one spot out from All-American honors.
She also won the BIG 10 outdoor 5k title in the spring of 2019.
The soon-to-be Buffalo owns personal bests of 4:41 (mile), 9:26 (3k) and 15:56 (5k). She will join a Colorado team that recently lost Sage Hurta and Tabor School to expired eligibility. Nichols will give the Colorado women a low-stick replacement later this fall in an effort to keep Colorado as one of the more competitive teams in the PAC-12 and the NCAA.
