- NEWS: 3x All-American Aidan McCarthy Signs NIL Deal With Brooks
Written by Aimee Mackenzie, edits & additional commentary via Garrett Zatlin Cal Poly middle distance star, Aidan McCarthy, has signed an NIL deal with Brooks prior to the start of the 2025 indoor track season. The news comes shortly after former Portland runner Matt Strangio announced that he has turned pro with Brooks. McCarthy's past year on the track was nothing short of spectacular. The Mustang veteran ran a head-turning time of 1:45.19 in February, securing the NCAA #3 all-time indoor 800-meter mark. That effort was later backed up by a 3rd place All-American finish over that distance at the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships. The Cal Poly ace capped off his breakout year of with a 5th place All-American performance over 800 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. McCarthy has collected three school records across the men’s 800 meters, 1500 meters, and indoor mile. Under Coach Ryan Vanhoy’s guidance, McCarthy has continued to rise the NCAA ranks, making major leaps in his fitness over the last year. His current personal bests include 1:45.19 (800), 2:19.68 (1k), 3:52.83 (mile) and 3:36.49 (1500).
