1. Adams State Grizzlies

One could argue that this is the most talented relay in this field, even if Fiona Hawkins replaces Robles on the anchor, but Lawrence is going to be doubling back from the mile and this relay as a whole is a bit inexperienced.

2. Queens (NC) Royals

The Royals will likely lose tons of firepower with Alanis running the 5k, but rearranging their lineup and putting Stevie Lawrence on the anchor might be enough to salvage an All-American finish.

3. Grand Valley State Lakers

Despite being the third seed in this field, it's hard to imagine this relay losing as it seems more likely than not that Coach Baltes will be able to optimize this lineup thanks to the extensive depth, firepower and experience on his current roster.

4. Augustana (SD) Vikings

This team was built for the DMR, but all three of their distance legs are going to be doubling back from the mile or the 800 prelims, making it challenging to assume that everything will go perfectly for the Vikings.

5. Indianapolis Greyhounds

This team can absolutely win a national title, but the first three legs of this relay need to be no less than perfect if Cleyet-Merle is going to have a shot at catching the leaders.

6. Western Colorado Mountaineers

Doucette and Beasley were a very underrated duo on either end of this DMR, but with Doucette running the 5k and likely opting out of this race, the Mountaineers are left with a fairly significant hole in their lineup.

7. Simon Fraser Clan

This is an all-around solid relay, even if a veteran like Andrews-Paul is doubling, but Simon Fraser does not have a huge margin for error if their goal is to be All-Americans.

8. CSU-Pueblo Thunderwolves

The success of this relay is entirely dependent on how well Streff and Hernandez rebound from the 800 meter prelims which takes place two hours before the DMR.

9. Academy of Art Urban Knights

Natalia Novak, who is doubling back from the mile prelims, will understandably capture a lot of attention when talking about this relay, but Delaney Dykes is a very underrated lead-off leg who was an All-American in the 800 meters during her time at Northwest Missouri.

10. UC-Colorado Springs Mountain Lions

Almasri, McGrath and Hedlund are ALL running the women's mile prelims and despite each of these runners being nationally competitive distance talents, banking on this trio to effectively double back for this relay is admittedly challenging.

11. Lee (Tenn.) Flames

In a similar fashion as the Western Colorado women, the Flames' will probably be without Celine Ritter who is running the 5k, meaning that Toni Moore will need to have one of the best races of her career if this relay is going to sneak into an All-American position.

12. Azusa Pacific Cougars

There's not necessarily one standout star on this relay, and they seem to have very limited firepower, but the Cougars do boast a fairly steady lineup and it also doesn't hurt that this entire relay will be fresh for this race.

Final Predictions:

  1. Grand Valley State Lakers

  2. Adams State Grizzlies

  3. Indianapolis Greyhounds

  4. Academy of Art Urban Knights

  5. Simon Fraser Clan

  6. CSU-Pueblo Thunderwolves

  7. Augustana (SD) Vikings

  8. Queens (NC) Royals
