1. Aidan Ryan (Williams)

This could very well be Ryan’s FOURTH race of the weekend, leaving us to question if he will he have enough energy left to hold off some of the best talents in Division Three...

2. Alex Phillip (John Carroll)

Phillip has shown us before that he can effectively double at the national meet and that's a good thing for him as he will serve as the primary competition to Aidan Ryan this weekend.

3. Nick Andrews (SUNY Geneseo)

We know Andrews can run a fast mark at any given time, but which race scenario is the most favorable for him this weekend?

4. Matyas Csiki-Fejer (Suffolk)

Csiki-Fejer will be one of the few fresh guys in this 3000 meter field, something that could potentially alter the implications of how fast (or slow) this race will unfolds.

5. Matthew Lecky (RPI)

Coming off of the DMR anchor leg shouldn’t be too much of a challenge for Lecky in this 3000 meter as his breakout season has proven that he can be nationally competitive regardless of the circumstance or his competition.

6. David Fassbender (UW-Whitewater)

It’s a given that Fassbender, a reliable and experienced veteran, will compete right alongside the top dogs in this race, but how will he respond when he finally gets the opportunity to race both Ryan and Phillip at the same time?

7. Christopher Collet (Wartburg)

Collet’s proven speed from his mile performances this year has been wildly encouraging, making him a lethal competitor if he’s near the front of this race in the late stages.

8. Joseph Jaster (Case Western)

Being fresh for this race could be a major advantage for Jaster who not only peaked at the right time to qualify for this event, but also didn't finish worse than runner-up in any of his five 3k races this winter.

9. Joe Freiburger (Wartburg)

Freiburger’s experience, reliability and consistency will likely pay big dividends in this race and frankly, it would not be a total shock to see him contend for the win, especially if this race gets quick.

10. Henry Pick (Claremont-Mudd-Scripps)

Although he has only raced on an indoor track twice this season, Pick has shown throughout this year that he's incredibly fit and maybe better than his seed would suggest.

11. Jacob Ridderhoff (Washington U.)

Ridderhoff has become an elite 3000 meter runner this year after stepping up from the mile and given that some of the top names in this field may be less inclined to make this pace fast, that mile prowess could end u being extremely valuable.

12. Graham Tuohy-Gaydos (Williams)

It’ll be interesting to see how Tuohy-Gaydos fares in his first doubling experience at the national meet, although knowing what teammate Aidan Ryan is going to do should help.

13. David (Drew) Donahue (Middlebury)

Donahue has only gotten better as the season has progressed, giving him just the right amount of momentum to roll into this national final to maybe counter his national meet inexperience.

14. Gavin McElhennon (Johns Hopkins)

McElhennon comes into this race fresh, and with good progression and momentum, giving us a lot to like about Johns Hopkins runner despite his clear lack of national meet experience.

15. Matthew Kearney (MIT)

His wicked fast distance performances at Boston University this year show us that Kearney can get after a fast pace if need be, but how effective will he be in a tactical race?

16. Gunner Schlender (UW-Whitewater)

Schlender will gain valuable experience by running alongside true veteran teammate David Fassbender, potentially leading to a result where he outperforms his seed.

17. Jamie Dailey (John Carroll)

Dailey has flown under the radar throughout most of this season, but has made great leaps in his fitness over the last month or so, making a runner of his caliber very scary in this field, especially since he'll be fresh.

18. Spencer Moon (Simpson)

Giving Joe Freiburger some serious battles this year, Moon has evolved into a national elite this winter and he’s a major sleeper pick to snag an All-American spot.

19. Ryan Cory (Cortland State)

Quietly throwing down some major performances this year, Cory earned himself a place at these championships and it also doesn't hurt that he's coming off of an important win at AARFTC Championships which was huge.

20. Miles Christensen (Claremont-Mudd-Scripps)

Christensen returned to the spotlight with his remarkable Boston University performance in December, but it's not a given that him and teammate Henry Pick will pick up where they left off a few months ago.

Final Predictions:

  1. Aidan Ryan (Williams)

  2. Alex Phillip (John Carroll)

  3. Joe Freiburger (Wartburg)

  4. Henry Pick (Claremont-Mudd-Scripps)

  5. David Fassbender (UW-Whitewater)
