Earlier this week, Duke University announced that Melia Chittenden (formerly of Princeton) will be joining the Blue Devils as a graduate transfer starting in the fall of 2021. She is expected to have all three seasons of eligibility when she arrives in Durham, North Carolina.
During her time with the Princeton Tigers, Chittenden secured personal bests of 9:29 (3k) and 16:33 (5k). She is a two-time cross country national qualifier, once with her team (2018) and once individually (2019). Last fall, Chittenden finished 6th at the Ivy League XC Championships and later went on to place 8th at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships.
Chittenden will soon join a Duke team that just finished 4th at the ACC XC Championships. She'll bring valuable championship experience and a key scoring presence to a lineup that is expected to return many of their scorers from this past cross country season.
