The University of Utah has announced that Hannah Butler (Brown) is joining the Utes as a graduate transfer starting next fall. Butler has eligibility remaining in all three seasons.

Butler was a breakout front-runner for the women of Brown University last year. The distance veteran finished 9th at the Ivy League XC Championships before securing a huge 3rd place finish at the Northeast Regional Championships. In that race, Butler finished behind only Hannah Reinhardt and Anna Juul.

The Brown Bears' top low-stick would go on to individually qualify for the NCAA Championships where she earned a respectable 106th place finish. For perspective, that performance would have been good enough to be Utah's third scorer at the national meet, one spot ahead of Bella Williams.

The soon-to-be Utah distance runner also owns a 5k personal best of 16:54.

Butler is now the second grad transfer to recently join the Utah women. Earlier this month, the Utes landed Arizona distance runner Keelah Barger who owns the same 5k personal best as Butler (16:54). Just like Butler, Barger will not be joining the team until the fall of 2021.

With both Butler and Barger now set to join the program, the Utah coaching staff can take solace in the fact that they have replenished most of their depth with valuable and experienced veterans.

Despite losing a couple of key names from their 2019 lineup, the Utah women look poised to sustain their success from last year.
