The Stride Report has confirmed that former New Mexico distance star, Gracelyn Larkin, is joining the Northern Arizona women starting this fall. The former Lobo is expected to have one full year of eligibility remaining across all three seasons of competition.
The incoming Lumberjack runner is a massive addition to a team that now suddenly looks like a podium favorite this fall -- and maybe even an outside national title contender.
Not only have the NAU women added Larkin to their 2023 roster, but they were also able to land other former New Mexico standouts such as Ali Upshaw and Maisie Grice. It should also be noted that Ruby Smee, an All-American on the grass with San Francisco in the fall of 2021, is joining the Flagstaff-based program later this year as well.
Larkin joins Northern Arizona as one of the most reliable postseason runners in the entire NCAA. Our TSR #17 runner in The Stride Report's 2023 Preseason XC Top 50 Rankings is a three-time All-American on the grass. She has placed in the top-30 on the national stage in each of those appearances.
Not only that, but Larkin is a three-time All-American on the oval between the indoor and outdoor track seasons (all over 5000 meters). With personal bests of 15:23 (5k) and 32:32 (10k), the former of which was run earlier this summer, this Canadian distance star has become one of the most challenging runners in the NCAA to take down.
By adding Larkin, the Lumberjacks can now pair a true low-stick ace with standout star Elise Stearns as well as All-American contender, Annika Reiss.
With numerous returners adding depth, Ruby Smee likely offering low-stick scoring and both Grice and Upshaw holding an incredible amount of potential, the Northern Arizona women may have become just as dangerous as Colorado and Florida going into this fall.
