BREAKING: RPI Cancels 2020 Fall Sports

Earlier today, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) announced that they will not be competing in fall sports in 2020. The decision stems from the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic and concerns regarding increased exposure. The university still expects to implement a "Return to Campus-Based Operations" plan should the state of New York allow for it.

RPI's decision follows a recent announcement from D3 counterpart Williams College which stated that the university will not be participating in fall sports in 2020. Both the men's and women's RPI cross country teams qualified for the NCAA XC Championships last fall, placing 10th and 13th, respectively.

This past weekend, The College of New Jersey also announced that they will be cancelling fall sports that were deemed "high-density" and "high-risk". Cross country was not one of the sports listed.

Sources have informed The Stride Report that Pomona-Pitzer is expected to announce their plans for fall sports tomorrow.
