Earlier this month, The Stride Report was made aware that Matthew Rizzo would be transferring from Stanford to Georgetown. Today, the Hoyas confirmed the transfer.

Rizzo was one of the top distance runners in the country as a high schooler, winning the 2019 Millrose Games mile in a time of 4:09. Rizzo also won two New York state titles.

During his freshman year at Stanford, Rizzo had substantial success in the middle distances. The former Cardinal ran 1:51 for 800 meters (although he owns PR of 1:50 from high school) and dropped his mile PR down to 4:02. He will be a key signing for the Hoyas who will soon be without veteran mile specialists Spencer Brown and Nicholas Wareham.

Rizzo will enter Georgetown with three years of indoor track eligibility, four years of spring track eligibility and four years of cross country eligibility.
