Late last month, Hillsdale Athletics released a "Senior Day Salute" article, stating that Joseph Humes will finish the rest of his collegiate eligibility at Purdue as a graduate transfer. The article indicates that Humes will have eligibility in both cross country and track next year.

Humes was a two-time D2 cross country All-American during his time at Hillsdale College. He also collected an impressive array of personal bests, running 4:06 (mile), 8:14 (3k) and 14:25 (5k).

The soon-to-be Boilermaker will be joining a talented Purdue team that finished 11th at the NCAA XC Championships this past fall. The Boilermakers will be without top low-stick Jaret Carpenter who no longer has cross country eligibility. The good news, however, is that the rest of Purdue's national lineup will be returning this fall (assuming we still have a cross country season).

Humes may not be able to compensate for the entire loss of Carpenter's elite scoring potency, but he will allow the Boilermakers to stay at a nationally competitive level with guys like Curt Eckstein and Brody Smith still leading the way.
