BREAKING: Colin & Will Daly to Finish Eligibility at Notre Dame

Earlier today, The Stride Report confirmed that both Colin Daly and Will Daly will be finishing their eligibility at Notre Dame next year. The former Penn runners will each have one season of outdoor track eligibility remaining.

Will Daly will join the Fighting Irish with personal bests of 4:08 (mile), 8:12 (3k), 14:41 (5k) and 8:51 (steeplechase). Will was the 2018 Ivy League champion in the steeplechase and has finished 15th (2018) and 19th (2019) at the NCAA East Regional Championships in the same event. He will join a Notre Dame team which had no one run faster than 9:04 in the steeplechase last spring.

Then there is Colin Daly who had a breakout season this past winter. The soon-to-be Notre Dame student ran 3:59 for the mile at Boston in February to complement his personal best of 8:46 for the steeplechase. Colin also owns personal bests of 3:45 (1500), 8:11 (3k) and 14:35 (5k). He qualified for the 2019 Outdoor National Championships after finishing 12th in the steeplechase at the East Regional Championships.

Together, the Daly twins will bring plenty of experience and versatility to a Notre Dame team that is slowly beginning to develop in areas other than the 1500/mile distances. The Dalys will give Notre Dame an immediate boost in an event like the steeplechase while offering plenty of scoring potency in the 1500 meters.

The Dalys are among of group of senior Ivy League athletes who were unable to use their extended spring eligibility at an Ivy League school due to long-standing conference rules. They join Steve Neumaier, Conor Lundy and Allen Siegler as top Ivy League talents who will be using their eligibility elsewhere in 2021.

The Dalys will also be joining former Bucknell ace and 3:45 1500 meter runner Jacob Stupak at Notre Dame next year.
