  • NEWS: Louisville Freshman Elsingi Kipruto Signs NIL Deal With On

Written by Angelina Napoleon (intern), edits & additional commentary via Garrett Zatlin Earlier this month, shortly after winning his first ACC title over 5000 meters, it was announced that Louisville freshman Elsingi Kipruto has signed a “Name, Image, Likeness,” (NIL) deal with On. Kipruto is the first distance athlete from Louisville to sign an NIL with the Swiss-based sports brand. Fellow collegians such as Stanford's Juliette Whittaker, North Carolina's Vera Sjoberg, Alabama’s Doris Lemngole, Wake Forest's Rocky Hansen and more have also signed NIL deals with On. Kipruto started off his 2026 outdoor track season with a huge win at the Bryan Clay Invite over 10,000 meters, securing gold in a time of 27:29. The Louisville standout is now sitting at NCAA #1 in the event by a second and recently secured gold at the East Regional Championships over 10,000 meters to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. The young distance star out of Kenya recently showcased his dominance over 5000 meters as well, winning the ACC title in that event over a veteran field with a mark of 13:23.34. Kipruto's momentum first began in cross country where he gained All-American honors with a 39th place finish at the NCAA XC Championships. Continuing his hot streak on the indoor oval, Kipruto secured another All-American performance by securing 4th place over 5000 meters at the NCAA Indoor Championships. Earlier that season, the Cardinal rookie posted an impressive personal best of 13:15 (5k). Kipruto will next compete on Friday, May 29th as he aims to also qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships over 5000 meters.
