NEWS: Mitchell Small Transfers to Missouri

Updated: Jul 20, 2020

Yesterday, Missouri announced that Mitchell Small (formerly of Northern Arizona) will be transferring into the program. According to TFRRS, Small has three seasons of eligibility in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track (each).

Small was one of the many underrated names on NAU's roster over the last few years. The New Zealand native owns a personal best of 8:09 for 3000 meters and made multiple appearances in the Lumberjacks' top seven last fall at meets such as the John McNichols Invitational and BIG Sky Championships. Small also finished 9th in the Wisconsin Nuttycombe "B" race last fall.

The 2018 New Zealand U20 5000 meter champion is now joining the Tigers' roster along with former Southern Indiana steeplechaser Nathan Hall. The Missouri men have produced a handful of respectable distance talents over the last few years, including Thomas George (8:00 3k // 13:51 5k // NCAA XC qualifier), Martin Prodanov (1:49 800 // 3:43 1500) and Kieran Wood (3:59 mile // 8:01 3k).
