GRAD TRANSFER: Kenny Vasbinder to Finish Eligibility at Notre Dame

Earlier today, The Stride Report confirmed that former Columbia runner Kenny Vasbinder will be finishing his eligibility at Notre Dame as a graduate transfer. He has only outdoor track eligibility remaining.

Vasbinder had a breakout cross country season this past fall, taking home the win at the Roy Griak Invitational, placing 32nd at the Nuttycombe Invitational, and then winning the Ivy League Cross Country Championships. The soon-to-be Notre Dame graduate student owns strong personal bests of 8:08 (3k), 14:01 (5k) and 29:42 (10k XC). He also won the 5k conference title at the 2018 Ivy League Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Vasbinder will be joining a Notre Dame team that has recently added numerous top talents to their roster, including 3:45 1500 meter runner Jacob Stupak (from Bucknell) and fellow Ivy League competitors Colin and Will Daly (from Penn).

The former Columbia Lion joins a plethora of Ivy League runners who were recently forced out of the conference despite having an additional season of outdoor track eligibility (which was granted by the NCAA in the wake of Coronavirus cancellations). The Ivy League does not allow student-athletes to compete in the conference for more than four years.
