GRAD TRANSFER: Anna Kostarellis to Finish Eligibility at New Mexico

The Stride Report has confirmed that Anna Kostarellis (formerly of Xavier) will be finishing her eligibility at the University of New Mexico as a graduate transfer later this fall. She will have two seasons of indoor track eligibility, two seasons of outdoor track eligibility and one season of cross country eligibility remaining.

Kostarellis was one of the top distance talents in the BIG East conference and Great Lakes region throughout the past year. The soon-to-be Lobo owns a personal best of 16:08 for 5000 meters as well as a PR of 9:25 for 3000 meters.

Last fall was a breakout season for Kostarellis. The former Xavier runner won the Louisville Classic, finished 16th at Pre-Nationals, was runner-up at the BIG East Championships and went on to place 66th at the National Championships.

Kostarellis will join a New Mexico team that just lost star low-stick Ednah Kurgat to expired eligibility. From a cross country perspective, Kostarellis will likely prove to be a valuable addition who can make up for some of the lost scoring potency that Kurgat left behind (if the cross country season still happens).

Earlier in the year, it was discovered that Stanford superstar Fiona O'Keeffe will also be joining the New Mexico women, although she no longer has cross country eligibility.
