CONFIRMED: Michael Phillips in Transfer Portal

The Stride Report has confirmed that Michael Phillips (Syracuse) is currently on the transfer portal. According to TFRRS, he has three seasons of eligibility remaining in both indoor track and outdoor track as well as full eligibility in cross country. It is unclear when (or where) Phillips will be transferring.

Phillips was one of the country's top high school distance recruits from the Class of 2018. Since joining the Syracuse men, the Florida native has made encouraging progress, securing personal bests of 4:02 (mile), 8:13 (3k) and 14:20 (5k).

The redshirt sophomore showed plenty of promise at his first ACC Championship in the winter of 2019. At that meet, Phillips qualified for the finals in the mile where he finished 5th overall behind Yared Nuguse, Diego Zarate, Phillip Hall and teammate Aidan Tooker.

His mother, Kelly Phillips, is currently the head women's distance coach at Florida State.
