BREAKING: Shane Streich & Wesley Meyer to Finish Eligibility at Lipscomb

Earlier today, The Stride Report learned that both Shane Streich (formerly of Minnesota) and Wesley Meyer (formerly of Olivet Nazarene) will finish their eligibility at Lipscomb University next year as graduate transfers.

According to TFRRS, both Streich and Meyer will have only outdoor track eligibility remaining for next year.

An underrated BIG 10 middle distance talent, Streich posted a handful of impressive marks during his time with the Golden Gophers, including a 1:48 PR for 800 meters and a 3:42 PR for 1500 meters. The soon-to-be Lipscomb graduate student was also a two-time national qualifier in the DMR, but was unable to compete at NCAA's this past winter due to meet cancellations.

Then there is Wesley Meyer, the NAIA star who owns personal bests of 1:53 (800), 2:27 (1k), 3:48 (1500), 4:06 (mile) and 8:21 (3k). Meyer was the 2020 NAIA national champion in both the mile and the DMR this past winter while also earning a runner-up finish in the 3k as well.

The two incoming graduate transfers will join a Lipscomb roster which features a handful of quietly respectable distance talents such as Jonathan Schwind (1:49 for 800 meters, 3:46 for 1500 meters), Brent Leber (8:11 for 3000 meters, 14:01 for 5000 meters), and Zach Israel (8:09 for 3000 meters, 14:30 for 5000 meters).

Of that group, only Israel was listed as a senior from this past indoor track season.

Lipscomb will need to wait until the spring of 2021 until all of their best distance runners are able to compete. Even so, next outdoor season should be an exciting one for the Bison men.
