BREAKING: Marc Migliozzi to Finish Eligibility at Pitt

Earlier this week, Akron's Marc Migliozzi announced via Instagram that he will be finishing his athletic eligibility at the University of Pittsburgh next year as a graduate transfer. According to TFRRS, Migliozzi has one season of indoor track eligibility left and two seasons of outdoor track eligibility left.

Despite not owning any extra eligibility for cross country, one source close to the situation has informed The Stride Report that Migliozzi is currently applying for a medical redshirt in order to compete this fall.

During his time with the Akron Zips, Migliozzi slowly developed into a well-rounded distance runner and one of the top talents in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). The soon-to-be Pitt Panther owns personal bests of 4:06 (mile), 8:13 (3k) and 14:47 (5k). Migliozzi was also a cross country national qualifier this past fall after placing 19th at the Great Lakes Regional Championships.

The incoming graduate transfer previously competed for Pennsylvania powerhouse North Allegheny during his time in high school, an area only 20 minutes outside of the city of Pittsburgh.

The Panthers' distance crew is currently led by coach Brad Herbster, the former distance coach at Texas. Under Herbster, the team has slowly found success on the track. Last spring, Pittsburgh had three underclassmen run under 9:00 in the steeplechase (Evan Addison, Josh Higgins, Zach Lefever). Other notable performances included Drew Glick running 1:49 (800), Nate Sloan running 3:43 (1500) and Nick Wolk running 14:03 (5k) as well as 29:33 (10k).

As long-time veterans graduate and leave the program, Migliozzi will bring valuable experience to a Pittsburgh roster that is now rallying around a core of younger athletes with plenty of promise.
