BREAKING: Emmanuel Cheboson Decommits from Iowa State, Transfers to Arkansas

Updated: Jan 12, 2020

Earlier today, The Stride Report learned from multiple sources close to the situation that 28:42 10k runner Emmanuel Cheboson will be transferring to Arkansas. The former Louisville runner, who had initially committed to transfer to Iowa State, has since changed his decision and will join the Razorbacks in Fayetteville.

The move has massive ripple effects on the balance of power in the NCAA as far as distance running is concerned.

Cheboson's initial commitment to Iowa State was expected to add valuable scoring potency to a team that will be losing key veteran seniors such as Edwin Kurgat, Addison DeHaven, and David Too for the fall of 2020.

Instead, Cheboson will be transferring to Arkansas, a program that recently landed elite Campbell transfer Amon Kemboi. With the introduction of both Cheboson and Kemboi - as well as the return of Gilbert Boit - the Razorbacks are now expected to be one of the better teams in the NCAA for the 2020 cross country season.
