BREAKING: Aubrey Roberts to Finish Eligibility at Stanford

Earlier today, Stanford announced that Aubrey Roberts (formerly of Northwestern) will be finishing her eligibility with the Cardinal as a graduate transfer. According to TFRRS, Roberts is expected to have one year of eligibility remaining in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track.

Roberts has been one of the top women's distance talents in the country for years now. The former Wildcat will join the Cardinal women with personal bests of 4:43 (mile), 9:13 (3k) and 15:32 (5k). Roberts has qualified for three NCAA Cross Country National Championships and finished in 18th place at the 2018 national meet.

Roberts was absent from competition during the 2019 cross country season after a rumored injury forced her to the sidelines.

Aubrey Roberts' decision to go out west has massive implications as she could potentially swing the national title race in Stanford's favor. The question of which women's cross country team will win NCAA gold this fall (NC State or Stanford) has now become far more difficult to answer with a proven All-American star now joining the women in Palo Alto.

NC State made headlines earlier in the year when it was announced that Wofford star and multi-time All-American Hannah Steelman was transferring into the program. Now, Stanford has joined the arms race of collecting elite talent in an effort to stand atop of the podium come November.
