BREAKING: Alex Lomong to Finish Eligibility at Iowa State Starting Next Fall

The Stride Report has confirmed that Alex Lomong (currently of Ohio State) has chosen to finish his eligibility with Iowa State as a graduate transfer starting next fall. According to TFRRS, Lomong is expected to have one season of eligibility remaining in both indoor track and outdoor track.

Earlier this month, The Stride Report confirmed that Lomong could be found on the transfer portal.

During his time with the Buckeyes, Lomong established himself as a top middle distance talent in the BIG 10. The current Ohio State student owns a personal best of 1:47.43 for 800 meters and has run under 1:50 a total of 13 different times throughout his collegiate career.

Lomong will be joining a powerhouse middle distance program in Iowa State next year. Last winter, the Cyclones had three men (Festus Lagat, Roshon Roomes, Daniel Nixon) run 1:48 or faster. They secured three spots within the NCAA's top-12 for the 800 meters that season.

Those three men own personal bests of 1:45 (Lagat), 1:46 (Roomes) and 1:47 (Nixon).

Lomong will be entering the Iowa State program at the same time as incoming freshman Darius Kipyego. The Rhode Island native is one of the top-ranked high school recruits in the country, owning a personal best of 1:48.82 from this past July.
