ANNOUNCED: Individual XC National Qualifier Abby Loveys to Join NC State as Grad Transfer Next Fall

Earlier this week, NC State announced that Princeton's Abby Loveys will be joining the Wolfpack women. She is expected to venture to Raleigh, North Carolina in the fall of 2023 as a graduate transfer.

According to TFRRS, Loveys holds one season of cross country eligibility, at least one season of indoor track eligibility after this winter and potentially multiple seasons of outdoor track eligibility following the upcoming spring season.

On the track, Loveys holds solid personal bests, although it seems fairly clear that she'll improve upon those marks in the coming months. The Princeton veteran recently posted a 9:22 (3k) PR and has also run 4:28 for 1500 meters.

But the track is not where Loveys' talent is best utilized. Instead, she has proven to be a problem for her competition on the grass.

This past fall, Loveys had a breakout season. The east coast standout placed 18th at Paul Short, 34th at Nuttycombe, 8th at the Ivy League XC Championships and then 3rd at the Mid-Atlantic XC Regional Championships.

Loveys was set to toe the line in Stillwater, Oklahoma this past fall, but an illness kept her out of competing on the national stage.

The soon-to-be Wolfpack runner is now joining a juggernaut distance squad at NC State. The Wolfpack women have won the last two NCAA cross country team titles and are positioned to do so yet again in the fall of 2023.

The NC State women were also the recent recipients of Alabama transfer, Amaris Tyynismaa. The former Crimson Tide superstar ventured out of Tuscaloosa following the departure of distance coach Will Palmer and brings an unreal level of firepower to the ACC's top distance program.

And with Loveys now set to join this team later this fall, we can't help but ask the question...could anyone actually stop NC State 10 months from now?
